What do you need to open a super account?

HomeLearning HubWhat do you need to open a super account?
If you’re looking to open a Professional Super account before you start work, here is what you need.
1. A mobile & email
The first step in setting up your account is providing a mobile number. This helps verify your account and allows you to set-up two-factor authentication to ensure your account is secure.
Then, add an email for your login. It’s best to be one that you check frequently and that isn’t linked to study or work so you keep this email when you graduate or change jobs.
2. Personal details
During the join process, you’ll be asked details such as your full name, date of birth and residential address. It’s important to make sure these details match the ones you have on your ID, such as your driver licence, passport or birth certificate.
You won’t need to provide us with a copy of your physical ID to sign up – but it’s important to make sure they match so you can pass security checks in the future when you’re asking for information about your account.
3. Tax File Number (TFN)
Adding a TFN to your super account means you aren’t taxed at the highest rate. It also allows you to make personal contributions and unlocks the feature to search for lost super. However, you can choose to not add your TFN.
We have a page all about TFNs here. It’s free to apply for one if you don’t have one. You’ll need one before you start a job.
But if you don’t have this on hand, you can skip this and add it later to your account.
And that’s it – you’ve taken the first steps to create a super account!
